Our Responsible Travel Code
Tourism in Greece is one of the main sources of employment and income, replacing traditional industries such as agriculture. Working within this growth industry in rural and remote areas means that we must take a great deal of responsibility; socially, environmentally and economically.
Please see below how “Acrobat Yachting” makes the difference:
Office
It all starts at home, so we start in the office. We are proud to be actively reducing the waste produced and our impact on the environment through energy conservation measures and recycling policies: we turn off all electrical equipment every night; we use energy-efficient bulbs; we measure print and paper consumption, and recycle wherever possible; we print our brochures on paper from sustainable sources, and send them out in biodegradable packaging.
Community
We fully appreciate the impact of tourist visits on local communities and their residents and strive to ensure that we are having a positive effect. Our aim is to provide quality self-guided and escorted tours, enabling our guests to experience the natural beauty of the region of Halkidiki and Sporades Isles without damaging the environment. Every village has a strong sense of community, and there are always festivals, concerts, film shows, craft fairs, markets throughout the year. Ιn addition, we always encourage our clients to get involved in local events and activities which help to sustain traditional values and customs.
Leaders and local suppliers
Through our tours we support the local economy by booking directly with local suppliers, enabling locally owned businesses and the economies in which they work to benefit directly. We support local markets and producers by including visits and tastings. All the food products used on board are mainly sourced from local organic farms and Agricultural Associations; transfers and other operational tasks are executed by local people.
Group size
We operate small group tours that have a low impact on the communities we visit and we always ensure our operations do not disrupt or lead to the displacement of local people. Trips are taking place in certain periods throughout the season, meaning customers are not restricted to busy weekend travel. It also allows us to offer total flexibility over travel options and holiday durations.
Our fleet
All our vessels sail under the standards of the Green Blue environmental programme set up by the British Marine Federation and the Royal Yachting Association. Our aim is to minimise our environmental impact by knowing how to:
Use oil & fuels
Clean our boats
Renew our anti-fouling
Watch our waste
Use resources sustainably
Discharge sewage
Cut noise & exhaust fumes
Avoid spreading non-native invasive species
Appreciate wildlife
Each one of our boats uses the “Green Boat Checklist”, demonstrating to us and to our guests with the total score “how green is our yacht”.
